ASA CERTIFIED DOCKING ENDORSEMENT – ASA 118
Prerequisites: Basic Keelboat Sailing 101, or basic sailing/power boat handling knowledge.
Skills to be acquired: Able to safely and efficiently dock an auxiliary powered (single inboard or outboard engine) sailboat. Knowledge of basic auxiliary power theory, engine and steering controls, proper use of dock lines, crew communication and safety.
Meet: To be designated upon demand. One day course. This course will be held at our lake location or can be arranged for coastal location aboard an auxiliary powered mono hull or Catamaran vessel.
Student personals: Bring foul weather gear, boat shoes or white bottom shoes (no black bottom shoes allowed), personal clothing, personal safety harness, sunglasses and sunscreen. Bring food if so desired. Big Water Marina has snacks, drinks available. No alcohol or illegal drugs will be permitted.
Supplies: Student should bring personal pen, pencil and paper. Big Water Sailing School will provide, if needed. Student must bring their personal ASA portfolio with all material sent by Big Water Sailing School.
Limitations: Maximum of 6 students per boat/scheduled date with one certified instructor/Captain.
